Ong Chee Kian, Ph.D. Dr Ong has a diversified background and has been helping students from different levels (Primary – Degree) to achieve breakthrough in their academic throughout his career. He holds a Bachelor Degree (UMIST, UK)  in Microelectronics System Engineering, a Master Degree (NTU, Singapore)  in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and a Doctorate Degree (UCSB, California, US) in Computer Engineering. During and after his academic journey, Chee Kian has gained a wide range of industrial experience at different levels from a service technician to an engineer to Vice President (Product/Marketing/Engineering/ Technology). His diverse experiences allow him to understand and share with his students how academic theories are applied in simple real life applications. Furthermore, his endeavors in the corporate world have equipped him with life skill experiences to share with his students should they need a mentor to discuss with.

Chee Kian’s passion to share knowledge with others has led him into full-time academic coaching for students. His desire to present complex theories into simpler and close-to-heart ideas has helped many students grasp the key ideas easily. There are many intelligent individuals, who lack proper guidance to understand subject topics, and had to rely on “hard-memory” whilst struggling through their academic work and finally lost their interests and grades in their subjects. Chee Kian has helped many of such students gain interest and improve their grades by linking new concept to basic facts with simple relevant examples during coaching sessions. Students often reacted with “Orh…ahh” when simple keys ideas are linked to the new theories. Chee Kian also introduces tools to help students systematically approach the problem sums related to the new found knowledge to minimize careless mistakes.

Students in ConceptMaths have their results improved tremendously, some in 2 weeks while others within 3 months. After attending the first session, some students went home laughing with disbelief that mathematics is just so simple. Chee Kian is always delighted to see many students enthusiastically applying their new found knowledge on problem sums. Students have always been assuring Chee Kian with a victorious smile after completing the challenging problems with simple yet systematic approach.

Philosophy of Chee Kian’s Coaching

In today’s information age, there is a wealth of information and knowledge to be tapped from the internet. As putting information onto the internet is made so easy and no means was setup to validate its accuracy, the information found over the internet cannot be fully trusted. Do you start believing when many internet sites reports a flying elephant? We know that knowledge is power, but knowledge must be based on collections of accurate information. If collected information is inaccurate, our knowledge would be skewed and this might lead to wrong decisions made. Over the centuries, many successes have been based on sifting gold from the dirt, or identifying the truth from the seemly-truth.

Validating new theory involves linking it to basic facts. If no link is found, then the new theory is likely a flaw. Thus the ability to link new theory to basic facts is essential for good decision making. Chee Kian strengthen students' skill of linking by associating new subject theories to basic facts in a simple comprehensible manner. This skill to link also develops a creative thinking mind. Every new creation is based on applying (associating) previous knowledge into new area(s) / application(s). The skill to link new theories to basic facts equiped student with the basic fundamental of creativity – linkage, and thus enhance student ability solve problem creatively. In coaching, Chee Kian maximizes students’ opportunity to foster creativity while acquiring knowledge in the academic curriculum.
